IKEA is an Ikeas house-and-amphibious furniture brand.
But it also has a very big home renovation industry.
That’s what a recent investigation by The Economist magazine has revealed.
In its most recent edition, The Economist investigated the home renovation market in the United States and the European Union, and found that Ikeas average home renovation costs were $14,000.
The average home in the UK was just $17,000, according to the study.
And that’s in 2017, the year the US economy recovered from the Great Recession, and the average home was only $17.10 million.
And those numbers are likely to change dramatically over the next five years.
What makes Ikeas home renovation even more expensive is that they’re a large company.
According to The Economist, Ikeas annual revenue is about $20 billion.
That means that the company made $6.5 billion in revenue last year, and about $3 billion in total profit.
That would put the company at a loss of about $5.3 billion for the year.
The study’s author, Matthew Johnson, a senior economist at The Economist (and the study’s title), noted that Ikea also has several subsidiaries, which makes it even more difficult to accurately estimate its costs.
For instance, if Ikea were to sell off some of its businesses, like the company’s Swedish division, it could make a lot of money, but there are a lot more likely to be other companies selling off their Swedish businesses as well.
The Economist did, however, point out that Ikeys annual sales are probably about the same as those of American giants like Walmart and Amazon.
The company also had an impressive annual profit margin, which it reported at around 40%.
But Johnson explained that that doesn’t necessarily translate into high profit margins in the home construction industry.
“Home construction costs are rising in real terms, and as demand increases, the cost of building a house will also rise,” Johnson told Business Insider.
“But the rise in the cost is still pretty small compared to the overall cost of construction.”
Ikea’s Home Construction Costs in the US and Europe The average cost of a new home in America is $200,000 or more.
That compares to around $100,000 in Germany, about $100.50 in Denmark, and $100 in the Netherlands.
The UK is much cheaper than the US, with an average price of just $120,000 for a new house.
But that’s still not much compared to Ikea, which is charging about $150,000 to build a new Ikea in the U.K. And the company is also charging $150 per square foot to construct a new IKEa in Italy, $400 per square feet to build in Spain, and around $1,000 per square meter to build the house in the German state of Saxony.
The Home Construction Industry in the EU and the United Kingdom Ikeas sales have grown significantly over the last decade, with the company increasing its sales volume by 10% in the last year alone.
That growth was partly driven by rising demand in Europe, Johnson explained.
“In the last five years, Ikea has doubled sales in the European market,” Johnson said.
“I think it’s partly a response to the economic recovery.
We’ve seen a surge in demand, particularly in Europe.
And Ikeas share of European home construction has increased from 17% in 2017 to 20% in 2018, so we’re not just the only home-improvement company there.”
Ikeas Home Improvements in the West Ikeas profits in the west are also growing fast.
Ikeas profit increased from $2.6 billion in 2017—which is still well below the European average of around $13.5 bn—to $5 billion last year.
And Johnson noted that the growth is not just due to increased demand.
“The growth in the price of construction services has increased significantly, and that’s probably a good thing.
Ikea needs to make up for the losses from other home improvement businesses, so that’s a good way to increase profits,” he said.
Ikeys Home Improvements to the West, the Netherlands and Belgium In Europe, Ikeys home renovations are growing even faster.
In 2017, Ikeyas sales were up 22% compared to 2017, while sales in Germany grew by 15% and in the country of the Netherlands by 10%.
Ikey has also been expanding its services across the continent, as the company has expanded its reach into the UK and Belgium.
Johnson said Ikeys services are growing in Europe and the U, and have grown faster in the latter two countries than in the former two.
In Belgium, Ike’s services were up 33% last year and in Germany they increased by 29% last years.
